Inside: super easy Easter crafts for little kids that are low-prep, minimal-mess and perfect for chaotic days at home or in the classroom!
With Easter around the corner, little ones are counting down to egg hunts and all-the-candy….
And while their understanding of “how many days?” might be slightly questionable, their anticipation definitely isn’t!
Of course, all that waiting around can lead to a lot of restless energy.
Now, in theory, Easter crafts sound like the perfect solution.
In reality? Crafts with toddlers and preschoolers can very quickly turn into a full-scale operation — and while I don’t mind the hunting of supplies so much, it’s the inevitable clean-up that can become completely off-putting!
I mean who has time to spend 40 minutes cleaning glitter out of places glitter should never be?!
Nope, not me!
These are low-prep, low-mess, minimal-supply Easter crafts.
The ones you can pull together quickly, and won’t turn your kitchen table, craft room or classroom into a craft explosion… No white PVA school glue, no paint and definitely no glitter!
Because toddler crafts should feel doable — even on chaotic days!

Fun & easy EASTER EGG crafts & ideas
From plastic, wooden and real eggs to shaping an egg out of salt dough or simply drawing an egg shape, here are some of the best ideas for fun Easter egg crafts for 3-year-olds.
For supplies and materials for these crafts, check out our recommended product list.
Tissue paper Easter egg suncatcher
This pretty Easter craft and decoration needs some contact paper and tissue paper (buy it pre-cut into squares for next to no prep), plus an eager preschooler or two.
Tissue paper dyed Easter eggs
There are quite a few egg-dying techniques around but I particularly like this one which uses tissue paper. What’s more, once the eggs are hard-boiled, anything goes when it comes to the decorating and dying part.
Your 3-year-old can spray the eggs with water using a spray bottle (also good for those finger muscles), then cut and shred the tissue paper and stick all over.
Spray again and allow to dry. Peel off and voila! Dyed and decorated. Great process art with such an effective end result, making it a must-do Easter craft in my book.
Note: unfortunately you do need to use “bleeding tissue paper” rather than the normal stuff.

Shredded paper Easter egg collage
An Easter egg craft for toddlers that love to rip or cut. All of them right? For tiny tots that want to rip and stick, I wouldn’t worry too much about keeping a pattern.
Older toddlers who’ve grappled the use of scissors can practice their skills and have a go at some kind of pattern (but don’t surprise if they want to stick everything wherever – that’s totally normal at this age…)
Contact paper nature Easter egg craft and decoration
This is such a pretty and fun craft and will be right up the street of my flower-loving 3-year-old.
First, collect some spring flowers with your preschooler and allow them to dry for a few days. Once dry, they can be stuck onto contact paper or into a laminating pouch and finally hung in the window for all the family to enjoy.

Loose Parts Easter Egg Collage
Simply draw some wavy and zigzag lines onto an egg shape which your 3-year-old can then embellish with beads, pompoms, popsicle sticks and other loose parts.
You (not your toddler!) can then drizzle a line of glue over the top so everything sticks – then keep their masterpiece high up until it dries!
Or omit this part and keep it a mess-free activity, rather than a craft to keep.
Simple EASTER CHICK crafts for 3-year-olds
Loads of fun and easy chick crafts for preschoolers and toddlers alike here – not only for Easter, there’s nothing like a spring chick to brighten the day.

Clever standing Easter chick craft
I love this simple Easter craft for toddlers – a little bit of cutting a bit of sticking and 2 clothespins and you got yourself a cute Easter chick that stands up.
Whether the legs stay attached is another thing – I can imagine mine as toddlers just wanting to play with them…
(As another side note, I’m sure this would make a great paper plate Easter craft – this chick is round!)

Hatching Easter chick craft
A toddler able to use scissors can have a go at cutting the paper plate and then decorating the egg they’ve created. Depending on the extent of their cutting skills they might also be able to have a go at the beak, body and head of the Easter chick too. Then it’s a case of sticking it altogether with a glue stick.
Easter chick egg cups
It will be a little bit of a fiddle to cut the bits and bobs out of felt, but once that is done, get your preschooler to stick and you’re done! A cute Easter chick with a practical purpose. It’s the perfect craft for the 3-year old that loves boiled eggs.

Paper Plate Easter Bunny Wreath
You might need to do most of the cutting, but your toddler can help sticking the egg-shaped paint chip cards onto the wreath (a paper plate). A good opportunity to practice color recognition and another easy and fun mask for your little one.
Jumping Easter bunny craft (and fun toy!)
Another Easter craft that should keep little ones entertained. Pushing down on the top cup should make the bunny jump, due to some elastic bands you can just see on the edges. Click the link above for the tutorial.
Easter bunny paper bag craft
I love the upcycling here and a very quick and easy craft to prep for when you have a sudden need to keep a little one busy and entertained (i.e. a perfect Easter craft for toddlers).

Keep them mess-free and don’t paint them!
Salt Dough Easter Bunnies
These salt dough bunnies look like they’re sitting rather than hopping, but they’re rather adorable all the same!
Keep them salt dough coloured and skip the painting… Or make them out of play dough instead (and squish them back into the pot when the fun is over!)
Easter bunny nature collage
A cute and fuss-free Easter Craft that brings the outside in and is full of the joys of Spring!
Not only that, but the results could be quite amusing depending on where eyes and nose end up. We did something similar with parts of the face cut out of magazines and my daughter’s was quite funny and a little freaky.
I can’t wait to see how this Easter bunny will turn out.

Easter BASKET & TREAT HOLDERS
No list of Easter crafts would be complete without some Easter basket crafts and ideas for Easter treat holders – these crafts are arguably the most important on the list for your sweet-toothed 3-year-old.

Carrot cone Easter baskets
Simple cut, wrap and glue some orange-colored card into a cone shape – you’ll probably need to do this, rather than your toddler. But your little one should be able to help cut the green carrot leaves, good scissor skills practice.
Paper Plate Bunny Craft & Treat Bag
This Easter bunny craft is not only easy and cute but practical too; all those Easter treasures and candies will be happily transported around in these paper plate bunny treat bags. My 3-year-old will use it way beyond Easter though, she just loves bags…
Easter Carrot Treat Box Paper Craft
What a great idea to turn a cone of paper into a carrot that can hold small candies like gummy bears and mini eggs. A few of these carrots would look super cute in an Easter basket, or what about hiding them around the garden?
Woven Easter basket
I was hesitant to include this one since it is a little bit of work, but it still fits the bill of “mess-free” – so I’ll let you decide….

Minimal Mess EASTER CARDS for 3 & 4-year-olds
My family love it when they receive homemade cards from my two. We regularly make homemade Christmas cards during one of many Christmas craft sessions.
Easter is another good excuse for card-making. Here are a few Easter card ideas for little kids to make, particularly well suited to 3-year-olds.

Free Art Easter egg card
This could be a great opportunity to make good use of any scrap scribbles and smudges you find lying around. Or get your toddler to make more scribbles on some fresh paper – note, I didn’t say paint!
They can then practice with the scissors and cut some ovals out of these and just stick them onto a card. Hey presto, a fun and easy Easter card.

Jelly Bean Prayer (Free Printable)
The Jelly Bean Prayer is a great way to help little ones learn about Resurrection Sunday (Easter Sunday). Each color is symbolic of some part of the Resurrection which has been put together into a poem:
Red is for the blood he gave
Green is for the grass he made
Yellow is for the sun so bright
Orange is for the edge of night
Black is for the sins we made
White is for the grace He gave
Purple is for the hour of sorrow
Pink is for a new tomorrow
A bag full of jelly beans, colorful and sweet, is a prayer, is a promise, is an Easter treat!
You place the prayer with the jelly beans with a bag and hand out to your kids on Easter Sunday. Grab the free printable from Down Redbud Drive.
Fun Printable Coloring Cross Craft For Kids
The cross is not only symbolic of all Christian followers; it plays a pivotal role at Easter so this fun coloring activity, suiting toddlers and preschoolers alike, is a must.
Fun Easter ACTIVITIES to do with 3-year-olds
While it’s lovely to create some cute Easter crafts, often little kids just want to “do” and simply play. This is, of course, totally normal and to be encouraged.
So providing toddlers and preschoolers with opportunities to explore new materials and textures, with sensory activities such as messy play, finger painting and other process art is essential whatever the time of year
So this section has the emphasis on the doing. You might end up with something cute and worthy of a picture at the end but that’s not necessarily the aim.
What’s nice about doing activities rather than a “craft”, is that your 3 year old may want to come back to them time and time again. What’s more, often they don’t require your help, meaning time for a cuppa or more…
For supplies and materials for these activities, check out our recommended product list.
Easter Egg Sensory Bin For Little Kids
This activity will offer your 3-year-old the opportunity to explore a sensory bin with an Easter theme. Not only will they enjoy new textures and the bright egg colors, but I can see a lot of small world play going on… That Easter bunny will definitely be laying some eggs I reckon!
(Bookmark these winter themed sensory bins and Christmas sensory activities for later in the year.)
Playdough (or salt dough) decorated Easter eggs
Squishing, rolling, squeezing and smushing playdough is such a great sensory experience for toddlers and preschoolers. It helps strengthen hand and finger muscles and is also relaxing and sure to calm down most the over-excited of toddlers and preschoolers.
Some Easter-shaped cookie cutters are all you need to turn playdough into a fun festive activity for your 3-year-old.
If you did want to make a more permanent craft, you could do this activity with salt dough instead. My two loved making these salt dough Christmas decorations – the concept is the same, just with different shaped cookie cutters.

Textured eggs
You can make “textured eggs” by filling balloons, with the help of a funnel, with different cupboard staples like flour, rice and dried beans etc. The flour-filled one was the most popular with my 3-year-old and I loved it too – feels just like one of those squishy stress balls.
These are great for little kids of all ages. Textured eggs make a fun Easter themed activity for babies. The twins, at 8 months old, enjoyed simply holding them and squeezing them. My older 2 played a game of lay the egg, look after the egg, hatch the egg, hide the egg…. it was pretty endless!

Decorate, play with, scoop and poor with, hide, hunt plastic eggs
Basically, anything with plastic eggs is sure to keep a 3 year old entertained! They’re great for hiding things in, scooping and pouring water, decorating with stickers… there are countless possibilities.
You could even just give your toddler or preschooler some plastic eggs and see what they come up with. – their imagination is often a lot better than ours.
Write the Easter Bunny a letter or draw a picture
Why not encourage your 3-year-old to draw the Easter bunny a picture of their favorite treat they’d like him to bring? Or something they’ve enjoyed doing this year.
Older toddlers and preschoolers may be able to write some words or their name, but drawing a picture is a good place for a 3-year-old to start. Grab the free printable Easter Stationery from Mom Skoop here.
Easter Bunny STEM Experiment
Why not try a STEM activity with your 3 year old this Easter. Team Cartwright shows you how to launch bunny peeps into the air in this simple lever experiment. Sure to be a hit with kids of all ages.
Printable Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt (free printables)
Kids love scavenger hunts – even more so when there are treats involved! But with a scavenger hunt like the one above, you could limit the candy to a single “egg with chocolate”.
Some of those brightly colored plastic eggs will come in handy here and with a few stickers and washi tape you can make up the other eggs on the list. Or simply print a scavenger hunt template omitting the text and make up your own list – you’ll find all the templates via the link above.
Which of these easy Easter crafts will you pick first?
