Gross motor activities are a great way everyone (and, by everyone, I mean mainly the kids!) to let off steam when stuck inside. They also help them hone important skills such as coordination and balance while building strength.
Here are some fun and a little silly physical Easter games and activities themed to the season.

Easter Egg Action Charades
Here’s another fun family game with an Easter theme that you can tailor to any age. Take it in turns to open a plastic egg to see what action you need to take. Kids will love coming up with the silliest challenges — and watching the adults attempt to complete them!

Egg Roll Push
Less messy than it sounds!
You’ll need:
- Hard-boiled eggs or plastic eggs
- A spoon
- A start and finish line
How to play:
Players must push their egg to the finish line with a spoon held between their toes! No hands or feet allowed.

Bunny Balloon Waddle
This is such a fun, high energy family Easter game that you can play in teams as a relay, or as individuals.
You’ll need:
- One balloon per player or team
- Start and finish line
How to play:
Each player places a balloon between their knees (the “bunny tail”) then they must waddle across the room to the finish line, without dropping it.
If playing as a relay, then pass to their team member (no hands allowed) to carry back across the room.
Add an extra challenge:
- Set up obstacles (cushions, chairs) to waddle over as you go!

Indoor Easter Egg Hunt Ideas
An indoor egg hunt can be just as exciting as the garden version — sometimes even more so.
Instead of simply hiding eggs around the house, add one of these twists to keep it fresh and age-appropriate.
Glow-in-the-Dark Egg Hunt
A glow-in-the-dark hunt is always a hit. As toddlers, mine loved a teddy bear hunt with their torches just before bed (more simple indoor toddler activities here).
Hide plastic eggs around the house, switch off the lights and let the kids search using only torches. You can pop glow sticks or little notes inside some of the eggs to add excitement, or even set a timer to see how many they can find in five minutes.
The torch-only rule instantly turns a simple egg hunt into an adventure!

Golden Egg Surprise Game
If you want to add a little extra drama to your indoor egg hunt, hide one special golden egg among the rest.
Inside, instead of sweets, include a fun privilege like choosing the next family game, picking dessert, staying up ten minutes later or being in charge of the music. Keep its location a mystery and make a big reveal when it’s found.
To keep things fair, you can rotate who gets the golden egg each year or make it a shared family prize. It’s a simple addition that builds anticipation and makes the whole hunt feel even more exciting.
Easter Minute to Win It Games
These quick-fire challenges are perfect for burning off chocolate energy indoors. Set a timer for one minute and see who can complete the challenge first — or who can do the most before time runs out.
Blindfolded Easter Egg Basket Scoop
This one is pure chaos — and the kids will absolutely love it.
You’ll need:
- An Easter basket (although any basket/tub will do)
- Plastic Easter eggs
- A kitchen spoon
- A blindfold
How to play:
Players must scoop up plastic eggs that have been scattered across the table or floor into a basket, close by. All while blindfolded!
No peeking. No using hands.
Count how many eggs make it into the basket before time runs out!
Mini Egg Transfer Challenge
This one sounds simple… until you try it.
You’ll need:
- Two bowls per player
- A handful of mini eggs (or small chocolate eggs)
- A teaspoon
How to play:
Fill one bowl with mini eggs and leave the other empty a set distance away. When the timer starts, players must transfer as many mini eggs as possible from one bowl to the other, using the spoon, within one minute.
Make it harder:
- Use chopsticks or tweezers
- One hand only
- Add cushions to step over
Bunny Basket Toss
You’ll need:
- Laundry basket or waste paper basket
- Plastic eggs or beanbags
How to play:
Stand a set distance away and toss as many eggs into the basket as possible within one minute.
Level it up:
- Move further back each round
- Use the non-dominant hand
- Have someone slowly move the basket
Chick Shuffle Challenge
This is a slight variation to the mini egg transfer
You’ll need:
- Marshmallow chicks (or cotton balls for a sugar-free option)
- Two plates per player
How to play:
Place the marshmallow chicks on one plate. Players must move them to the second plate — but here’s the catch: no hands allowed!
You can:
- Use a straw to suck and lift them
- Use a teaspoon held in your mouth
Whoever transfers the most within a minute wins.
Egg Tower Balance Challenge
A test of patience and steady hands.
You’ll need:
- Plastic Easter eggs (or paper cups)
- A flat surface
How to play:
Players must stack as many plastic eggs as possible on top of each other within one minute.
They can stack:
- Half shells open-side down
- Or full eggs balanced end-to-end (hard mode!)
Make it harder:
- One hand only
- Non-dominant hand only
