75 Easy Easter Crafts for Little Kids That Make The Cutest Keepsakes

Inside: 75 fun and incredibly easy Easter crafts for toddlers and preschoolers perfect to gift or display proudly at home!

What’s more exciting? The arrival of Spring or Easter around the corner?  Well, the answers are plain and simple, depending on your age.

For me it’s all about the chocolate, for my kids, 3 and 4, they can’t wait to see daffodils bloom.

Kidding. Obviously.

Anyway, so at this age, kids have firmly grasped that the Easter Holiday means an Easter egg hunt.  Then gorging delightful teeth-rotting candies… (It’s painful to watch, but what can you do?!)

So, the one issue with starting on any Easter craft for kids is the endless  “how long”, “how many days”…

Of course, their concept of time is limited, so it can be an entirely fruitless conversation…

Try some Easter chick crafts, egg, basket or Easter bunny crafts.

Or my favorite Easter craft ideas: super simple crafts with simple supplies i.e. no paint or glue!

Getting older or younger siblings involved

Older kids will need less help and can help prep materials, while tiny tots will need more help.

Alternatively try these  simple Easter crafts for toddlers instead.

You can never go too simple!

(For more super easy (non craft) activities try these easy indoor activities, outdoor play ideas and fun gross motor activities.)

SUPER SIMPLE Easter crafts

If you’re after super easy Easter crafts for your 3 or 4-year-old, these ones are for you!

They’re virtually no prep, minimal mess and use basic craft supplies. I.e. no paint or that horribly-sticky-and-gets-everywhere-in-the-hands-of-a-toddler white glue, type supplies!

I’m a big fan of these crafts!

For supplies and materials for these crafts, check out our recommended product list.

#1 Paint scribbled Easter egg craft

You can’t get simpler than hard-boiling some eggs and having your 3 year old “decorate” them with sharpies.  Use white eggs to make those pretty scribbles stand out and place in a basket for a festive decoration.

#2 Tin foil Easter egg craft

An easy Easter craft and a perfect way for a 3-year old to start experimenting with patterns.  This might just mean scribbling, but hey.  Simply wrap an oval-shaped pice of card with tin foil and decorate with sharpies.

#3 Paper plate Easter chick craft (free template)

How cute is this hatching Easter chick craft?  Good scissor skills practice for a 3 year old and a minimal-mess glue stick to stick it all together.  Click the link above for the free template.

#4 Washi tape decorated Easter eggs

Another minimal mess  Easter egg craft for toddlers and preschoolers that like to cut and stick (that’s most, right?)

Cut some cardstock into an egg shape or let older kids take charge and then grab some washi tape, pompoms and any other funky paper, ribbon, colorful buttons etc you have to hand and get crafting.

#5 Messy Painted Easter Cards

Let your little one scribble with crayons or, if you’re feeling brave, with paint, then simply cut out bunny shapes and stick onto blank cards.  How’s that for an awesome Easter card making activity and easy Easter craft for a 3 or 4 year old?

#6 Hatching chick Easter craft

A lovely nature-inspired hatching Easter chick craft for kids. It’s bright and colorful and just what we all need after a long, bleak winter (only me?!)

#7 Paper plate Easter chick craft

Cute cheeping Easter chicks!  Definitely stock up on some yellow paper plates so you can forget about paint and make it a super easy Easter craft to do with your 3 year old.

#8 Easter Bunny Headband Craft [Free Printable]

Young children of all ages love getting lost in little fantasy worlds so dressing up is a great way to entertain them.  Your 3 year old is going to love this cute bunny headband.

#9 TP Easter bunny craft

It was never going to be long before a toilet paper roll craft made it on the list! Here’s a very easy Easter craft which upcyles toilet paper rolls into little Easter bunnies.

You could simplify further by leaving them unpainted.

#10 Contact paper nature Easter egg craft and decoration

This is such a pretty and fun craft and will be right up the street of my flower-loving 3-year-old.

First, collect some spring flowers with your preschooler and allow them to dry for a few days. Once dry, they can be stuck onto contact paper or into a laminating pouch and finally hung in the window for all the family to enjoy.

#11 Easter bunny ears

A fun Easter craft that turns your 3-year old into a bunny. What more could you want than a giant-sized bunny galavanting around the place?! They’re sure to have lots of fun, while mom sips a nice cup of coffee perhaps?

#12 TP stamped Easter chick card

This is another very simple and effective Easter card idea for little kids; using an oval-shaped cookie cutter or slightly squished TP roll and some yellow paint, print the chick outlines onto a blank card. Add eyes, beak and feet and you’re done.

#13 Upcycled Easter bunny basket craft

This easy basket craft uses the bottom half of a plastic container, covered in white duct tape.  Simply add cardboard ears, eyes, nose and rosy cheeks and you’re done.

#14 Easter Bunny Bookmark

An easy Easter craft for your 3 year old to make and give to a loved one.  They’ll make a lovely keepsake.

Loose parts Easter egg craft and collage fun for 3 year olds to make
Loose parts Easter egg collage

#15 Loose parts Easter egg collage

Simply draw some wavy and zigzag lines onto an egg shape which your 3-year-old can then embellish with beads, pompoms, popsicle sticks and other loose parts.  You can then trace a line of glue over the top so everything sticks or omit this part and keep it a mess-free fun activity.

Fun easy Easter PAPER PLATE crafts for kids

What would moms of toddlers and preschoolers do without the humble paper plate?!  Not only do they mean we can skip the washing up whenever we need to (not, me, never) but it opens up a whole world of crafting opportunities.

There’s sure to be an Easter craft or two among this lot that you’re 3 year old is going to love.

For supplies and materials for these crafts, check out our recommended product list.

#16 Paper plate Easter chick craft

How cute are these fluffy chicks with real feathers?!  It’s hard not to love with this easy Easter craft: little accuracy is needed, making it perfect for a 3-year-old.

#16 Handprint paper plate chicken and Easter chick

A daddy chicken and a baby – too sweet!  My 3-year-old is going to love this easy Easter craft.

#17 (Another) paper plate chick craft

This time a fluffy cotton wool ball Easter chick – another one for my daughter who’s all about cute and fluffy). I can see this one hanging in our kitchen this Easter.

#18 Easter Bunny masks

More make-believe opportunities here for your 3-year-old with these fun and easy Easter bunny masks.

#19 Easter Bunny Paper Plate Craft [Free Template]

Unless your 3-year-old has pretty advanced scissor skills you’re probably going to be doing most of the cutting, but they’re sure to enjoy sticking it all together.

Click the article for step-by-step instructions and the bunny template.

#20 Nature-inspired paper plate Easter Bunny craft

These might be my favorite of all the bunny paper plate crafts – I just love their floral fringes!  I’m sure my 3-year-old will love them too.

#21 Yellow Chick Paper Plate Craft

Last but not least in this section is another fluffy pompom chick – I love it’s little pipe cleaner beak and feet.

Fun & easy EASTER EGG crafts & ideas

From plastic, wooden and real eggs to shaping an egg out of salt dough or simply drawing an egg shape, here are some of the best ideas for fun Easter egg crafts for 3-year-olds.

For supplies and materials for these crafts, check out our recommended product list.

#22 Tissue paper Easter egg suncatcher

This pretty Easter craft and decoration needs some contact paper and tissue paper (buy it pre-cut into squares for next to no prep), plus your eager 3-year-old.

#23 Pompom painted Easter egg craft

A pretty decorated Easter egg craft, using pompoms held with clothespins instead of paintbrushes.  Not only is this a fun and interesting way to hone fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. but patterning is an important pre-maths skill.

If your 3 year old wants to paint and smudge their own creations that’s also fine.

#24 Tissue paper dyed Easter eggs

There are quite a few egg-dying techniques around but I particularly like this one which uses tissue paper.  What’s more, once the eggs are hard-boiled, anything goes when it comes to the decorating and dying part.

Your 3-year-old can spray the eggs with water using a spray bottle (also good for those finger muscles), then cut and shred the tissue paper and stick all over.

Spray again and allow to dry.  Peel off and voila! Dyed and decorated. Great process art with such an effective end result, making it a must-do Easter craft in my book.

Note: unfortunately you do need to use “bleeding tissue paper” rather than the normal stuff.

#25 Melted crayon Easter craft

My two loved the melted crayon rocks we did earlier in the year – what a clever idea to do it with real eggs, hot hard-boiled ones.

Simply hold a crayon onto the hot egg and let all the colors drip and run down the sides, then allow to dry.

Obviously, be careful of little fingers burning – a strong grip of the crayon is needed and a preschooler who is moderately good at listening to your warning!

#26 Marbled Easter egg artwork

The last time I tried marbling with my two was a complete disaster! Never mind about the lack of anything pretty like above, it was the sheer amount of colored shaving cream that was all over most of their bodies as well as all over the table.

While it was a great sensory activity for them, it’s rather scarred me for life. That was when they were 1 and just 2 years old… so maybe at 3 and 4, we might all do better, but it’s definitely one I will take outside just in case…

As you can see from the Easter egg craft above, the finished product can be rather lovely. And all you need is shaving cream and dollops of paint or a few drops of food coloring.

Worth a try if you’re feeling brave, perhaps?

#27 Marbled Easter eggs

Another marbling one but this time with “marbling paint”.   Like the shaving foam marbling, this one definitely has the potential to be horribly messy so may be best saving for when your 3 year old is a little older.

The end result looks simply stunning though so I couldn’t not include it…

What’s more, if you use wooden craft eggs, as they did in the photo above, this will make a lovely decoration for many Easters to come.

Simple EASTER CHICK crafts for 3-year-olds

Loads of fun and easy chick crafts for preschoolers and toddlers alike here – not only for Easter, there’s nothing like a spring chick to brighten the day.

For supplies and materials for these crafts, check out our recommended product list.

#28 Easter chick egg cups

It will be a little bit of a fiddle to cut the bits and bobs out of felt, but once that is done, get your preschooler to stick and you’re done!  A cute Easter chick with a practical purpose. It’s the perfect craft for the 3-year old that loves boiled eggs.

#29 Hatching Easter chicks craft

A blown egg and the delicate hands of your 3-year-old are the main ingredients to this Easter chick craft.

Haha I hear you say! Yes, I agree, this one may be suited to older kids a little better, just depends a little on the skills and mood of your preschooler.  My daughter will love giving the little chicks a home.  She may even have the gentle touch this requires…(Or am I being naive?!)

#30 Eggbox hens and chick craft

This is an easy Easter craft that makes good use of things that would otherwise end up in the trash which I’m all for.  Then once complete I reckon any 3-year old will have loads of fun playing with them afterward – I’m sure they will keep my two busy for ages.

#31 Easter chick craft

In this Easter craft, blown eggs are modge podged with tissue paper and then decorated with feathers, felt beaks and googly eyes. (So prepare for lots of stickiness!)

Once dry the modge podge will become hard so the colorful little chicks should make a pretty decoration for many Easters to come.  If the thought of blown eggs is too much with a 3-year-old in tow, why not try this with wooden eggs or these plastic eggs.

#32 Spin Art Bunnies

This is process art at it’s best – paint is flung onto bunny cutouts using a salad spinner, leaving fun, modern art-like paint streaks.  This is sure to be a hit with my 3-year-old.  (Click the link above for the tutorial.)

#33 Jumping Easter bunny craft (and fun toy!)

Another Easter craft that should keep a preschooler or toddler entertained.  Pushing down on the top cup should make the bunny jump, due to some elastic bands you can just see on the edges.  Click the link above for the tutorial.

#34 Toilet paper roll Easter Bunny craft [Free Template]

This toilet paper roll Easter Bunny looks like it could just hop right across the table! That or waddle (it could definitely be easily converted to a penguin…)  The printable template makes this a nice easy Easter craft for 3-year-olds.

#35 Salt Dough Easter Bunny

These salt dough bunnies look like they’re sitting rather than hopping, but they’re rather adorable all the same! A cute Easter craft and activity for preschoolers 3 years old that should make a lovely keepsake for years to come.

#36 Easter bunny nature collage

An Easter Craft for 3-year-olds that brings the outside in, bright and colorful and full of the signs of Spring.

Not only that, but the results could be quite amusing depending on where eyes and nose end up.  We did something similar with parts of the face cut out of magazines and my daughter’s was quite funny and a little freaky.

I can’t wait to see how this Easter bunny will turn out.

#37 TP Easter bunny craft

More upcycled toilet paper bunnies, but these ones with hand-drawn faces and ears cut out of the top of the cardboard.  Grab some marker pens, tp rolls, toddler-friendly scissors and you’re all set.

#38 Easter bunny nature mask

Another nature-inspired Easter craft for preschoolers: a wearable Easter bunny mask decorated with small flowers, petals, leaves as the fluffy ears plus twigs and a flower for the bunny nose and whiskers…

Great to get your 3-year-old outside and foraging for all the bits and pieces.

#39 Hopping Bunny Rabbit Craft [Free Printable]

Once this fun Easter craft is complete, your 3-year-old is going to love playing with these hopping bunny rabbits.

Hand and footprint crafts take a bit of work and partience but can make lovely keepsakes.  So if you can grin and bear the potential stress of getting a decent hand or footprint off your 3-year-old or all that fiddly cutting out of their prints, they’re sure to be worth it.

#42 Easter bunny artwork with footprints

An adorable Easter bunny craft to do with your 3-year-old. If it comes out as well as in the photo above, it’ll be a keeper for many years to come.

#43 Handprint Easter chick craft

Lots of paint, lots of handprints and lots of cutting out for all involved, but definitely worth the effort if the end result is as cute as above!

#44 Easter Bunny Footprint artwork

Draw on whiskers and ears plus cotton ball tail and transform your 3-year-olds feet into bunnies.  What a great idea to do this on canvas.

#50 Fingerprint Easter bunny and chick card

More finger and thumb prints – this time turned into a bunny and chicks.  Should be simple enough to try with a 3-year-old.

#51 Easter Chick Printable Keepsake

This handprint chick is the perfect way to get a cute handprint keepsake with minimal effort.  You gotta love a free printable. ( Knowing how hard it is to get a decent handprint from a 3-year-old, I’d print a few off…)

#52 Easter Bunny Hoppin’ Away Footprint Craft

In this one, your 3 year olds footprint becomes the bunny’s feet.  Other than grappling a footprint off your kiddo, this one looks an easy Easter craft.

#53 Easter Bunny Handprint Craft

What a great idea to do an Easter bunny handprint on a tile?  You can never have enough coasters, that’s for sure, and this will make great gifts for grandparents too.

The best Easter BASKET & TREAT HOLDER crafts

For supplies and materials for these crafts, check out our recommended product list.

#55 Paper Plate Bunny Craft & Treat Bag

This Easter bunny craft is not only easy and cute but practical too; all those Easter treasures and candies will be happily transported around in these paper plate bunny treat bags.  My 3-year-old will use it way beyond Easter though, she just loves bags…

#56 Eggbox Easter basket craft

For some reason, it’s never occurred to me to make an Easter basket out of something that’s actually designed to carry eggs.  Seems so obvious now…  Paint an egg box and attach a ribbon handle – if you’re looking for an easy Easter basket craft for your 3-year-old then look no further.

#57 Adorable No-Sew Felt Easter Basket (with Template)

This is an easy Easter craft, but more for mum to take control of; although it doesn’t require any sewing, you do need to use a hot glue gun.  Your toddler or preschooler will love to direct you I’m sure!

They’ll certainly love carrying it around and collecting their Easter candies in it.  And, if your 3-year-old is anything like mine and big into bags, they’re going to be using it well beyond Easter.

#58 Easter Carrot Treat Box Paper Craft

What a great idea to turn a cone of paper into a carrot that can hold small candies like gummy bears and mini eggs.  A few of these carrots would look super cute in an Easter basket, or what about hiding them around the garden?

#59 Paper Mache Easter Baskets

Paper mache paste and a 3-year-old aren’t my favorite combination so this Easter basket craft is one I’d make outside… Click the link above for a great tutorial.

#60 Woven Easter basket

This one’s a little more time-consuming so ideal to keep an older preschooler engaged, perhaps asking a bit much of a 3-year-old?  I guess it depends a little on their personality and their mood.

#61 Tissue paper Easter baskets

These tissue paper Easter baskets are so pretty yet so functional and made a little like the paper mache baskets above. Using a plastic bowl as a mold, cover in tissue paper and stick together with modge podge.  (For a more detailed how-to, click the link above).

#62 Easter pillow treat box (free printable)

What better way to present some Easter treats than in a brightly colored pillow box? It looks a perfect size for toddlers and preschoolers as you can’t fit too many candies in.

#64 Potato stamped Easter egg art

#65 Tissue paper Easter egg card

More tissue paper scrunching involved in this easy Easter craft for toddlers and preschoolers. I love the idea of having the Easter egg inside the card with the cutout window, for a slightly different look.

Quite a bit more involved in this Easter craft and card with a few different materials and skills involved.  Should keep a 3 year old busy for some time and a grandparent very happy.

#68 Easter egg card

Sunday School & religious Easter crafts

Celebrate and help your 3 year old understand the true meaning of Easter with some easy religious Easter crafts, great for Sunday School too.

For supplies and materials for these crafts, check out our recommended product list.

#69 Printable Resurrection Set (free printables)

This is a religious Easter craft for kids of all ages who can learn the story of The Resurrection.   Rather like a nativity set, use the free printables to create your very own set of angles, St Mary Magdalen, Jesus, soldiers and so on.

Part of the set includes a tomb, which cleverly uses an old tissue box in conjunction with the printable.

#70 Jelly Bean Prayer (Free Printable)

The Jelly Bean Prayer is a great way to help little ones learn about Resurrection Sunday (Easter Sunday).  Each color is symbolic of some part of the Resurrection which has been put together into a poem:

Red is for the blood he gave

Green is for the grass he made

Yellow is for the sun so bright

Orange is for the edge of night

Black is for the sins we made

White is for the grace He gave

Purple is for the hour of sorrow

Pink is for a new tomorrow

A bag full of jelly beans, colorful and sweet, is a prayer, is a promise, is an Easter treat!

You place the prayer with the jelly beans with a bag and hand out to your kids on Easter Sunday.  Grab the free printable from Down Redbud Drive.

A little about me

Mom of 4 kids, baby sleep expert plus home organisation and kids activities and crafts

Hi, I'm Sarah

Mom of four outrageously gorgeous Littles.  Yup, four!  The twins are now two and that title still brings me out in a cold sweat… Yet I’m just as determined to give them the best without losing my mind.  I reckon it’s possible!  Most days.

I love a challenge and have to find out they ‘why’, ‘what’ or ‘how to’  –  there are rather a lot of these when it comes to kids…

I also love, love, love things to be neat and tidy and just so.   The Littles normally have other ideas!
